How continuous inkjet technology works
Continuous inkjet printer technology (CIJ) enables contactless and precise coding on moving substrates. The print head remains permanently installed while the substrate – for example packaging, bottles or components – is moved past it. A continuous stream of ink is generated by a high-pressure nozzle and divided into individual droplets using electrical pulses. These droplets are specifically deflected by high-voltage electrodes so that they hit the substrate precisely.
Unused drops are collected in a collection system and recycled, making the technology particularly efficient. CIJ is suitable for high production speeds and is extremely versatile, as it can produce razor-sharp codes on a wide variety of materials and shapes – from flat surfaces to uneven products. This flexibility makes CIJ technology a proven solution in industrial marking.
